1. Does the motor have brushes, or is it brushless?

The Sirocco II fan is equipped with a brushed motor.

2. The black box attached to the wire will not sit flat enough to slide the mounting plate on. Can I cut the box off?

The part that you are referring to is a ferrite bead. The ferrite bead is required to meet Electromagnetic immunity and emission compliance requirements by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and it must not be removed. Without this ferrite bead, other electronic devices near the fan may experience electromagnetic interference when operating. This will vary with the specific equipment and proximity to the fan. You can cut the heat shrink tubing off to eliminate some of the bulk surrounding the ferrite. Arrange the wires so that two are on the side and one is on the opposite side. This will allow it to lay flatter.

3. Is there a way to effectively clean the blade?

Yes. Please turn off the power to the fan before cleaning. A vacuum can clear the fan of any dust build-up, and a dry cloth may be used to wipe the surface. Do not use gasoline, thinner or other harsh chemicals to clean the fan, as this can damage the motor and the plastic.

4. Does the fan have to be mounted?

The Sirocco II fan must be mounted. The fan has a backing plate that can be affixed to the mounting surface using six #6 fasteners/screws.

5. I noticed that my 7010 Sirocco unit puts out less airflow than the 807 Sirocco unit. Why?

The 7010 Sirocco fan operates at different RPMs than the 807 Sirocco model. The speeds and RPMs for both units are provided below;

7010 Sirocco II

  • Speed 1: 1100
  • Speed 2: 1400
  • Speed 3: 1800

807 Sirocco

  • Speed 1: 1300
  • Speed 2: 1600
  • Speed 3: 1900

6. What is the life expectancy of the motor?

The motor is designed to function for 5000+ hours.

7. What is the wire size (gauge) for the installation cord?

The gauge of wire required for installation is 22AWG.

8. The 7010 Sirocco unit operates under the following conditions:

  • 9 to 15V (for the 12V range)
  • 18 – 30V (for the 24V range)

The Sirocco II fan has a 12/24v autosensing capability. To function correctly and safely, we do not recommend any modifications to this product.

9. Can this fan be mounted horizontally? Will it cause the fan to be noisy?

Yes, you can mount it horizontally or vertically. It should not cause the fan to make any excessive noise.

10. What are the dimensions of the unit?

The dimensions of the Sirocco II are approximately 9.5" W x 3.75" L x 12.25" H.

11. The fan has been calibrated, and the blue LEDs are working, but the fan is still not functioning. What can I do?

Please ensure that you choose a speed setting after the calibration. If the unit does not start spinning automatically after calibration, please get in touch with our Customer Service Team. Each time the power is disconnected from the fan, it will re-calibrate.

12. What is the maximum amp draw for each setting?

The Sirocco II fan draws 0.4 amps.

13. What are the dimensions of the fan when it is folded flat?

When folded, it is approximately 12" from the top of the fan to the far side of the base and about 4.25" away from where the surface it is attached to.

14. My fan is spinning counter- clockwise. Can I fix this?

Yes. You will need to remove the back motor cover plate and switch the wires around on the back of the motor. No soldering is involved as the wires attach to the motor with clips. This should fix the problem and keep both fans wired to the supply line.

15. How many CFMs does the fan offer on each speed?

  • Speed 1: 125 CFMs
  • Speed 2: 155 CFMs
  • Speed 3: 185 CFMs
