1. What is the life expectancy of the motor?

The motor will function for approximately 4-5 years or 6000+ hrs. It is equipped with a one-time thermal fuse, so if the unit were to overheat, the motor fuse would activate and disable the motor entirely.

2. What is the Stor-Dry made of?

The bottom portion of the Stor-Dry is made from flame-resistant plastic tested and approved by the CSA. The housing of the unit is constructed from anodized aluminum that is rust-proof.

3. How long is the power cord? Can I use an extension cord?

The Stor-Dry is equipped with a 6- foot power cord. This product must not be used with an extension cord.

4. Are there other permanent mount choices for this product? Can it be mounted on the wall or ceiling?

Safe and effective operation of the Stor-Dry requires the unit to sit on a level surface and not be installed in any other fashion.

5. What amount of space will a Stor-Dry effectively prevent mould and mildew?

The Stor-Dry will service an approximate area of 1000 cubic feet.

6. Does the Stor-Dry have an overheat protector?

Yes, this unit comes with a one-time thermal fuse. The overheat protector will activate at approximately 105°C. The bottom of the unit is also made from flame-resistant plastic.

7. What is the temperature of the air that the Stor-Dry puts out?

The Stor-Dry unit is a low-wattage warm air circulator (.6A) 70 Watts. It circulates warm air dispensed by the unit to prevent stale air pockets, preventing mould, mildew and musty odours. It does not collect water like a dehumidifier. It is typically used in boats, RVs or in closets. If you want to combat those three criteria, the Stor-Dry unit is recommended.

We do not have an actual temperature reading. Still, the unit will effectively prevent mould and mildew in the space of 800 cubic feet for normal conditions and 200 cubic feet for severe conditions. If you have existing mould or mildew – the Stor-Dry will not fix this issue.

8. Where can I use the Stor-Dry?

The Stor-Dry unit can be used in homes, RVs, and winterized boats.

  • It must not be used anywhere near an engine or other areas where there are flammable objects. If fumes/flammable products such as gasoline could come in contact with the unit, please do not use this product.
  • The unit must be kept flat and clear of combustible materials.
  • We do not recommend placing the product on the carpet as this can reduce the airflow through the holes at the bottom.
  • A clearance of at least 3 feet from the Stor-Dry's front, sides and rear is required, and it should not be placed near items and combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, paper, clothes, curtains etc.
  • Use this heater only as described in the manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.

9. How much air does the unit move, and at what velocity?

The Stor-Dry unit circulates a volume of air at 177 CFMs at a velocity of 5.6 mph.
