1. Do your fans have a CSA or UL rating?
Our marine fans are low-voltage fans that do not plug into the grid; therefore, they do not require CSA or UL certifications.
2. What is the cylinder-shaped component of the cord?
The part that you are referring to is a ferrite bead. The ferrite bead is required to meet Electromagnetic immunity and emission compliance requirements by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and must not be removed. Without this ferrite bead, other electronic devices near the fan may experience electromagnetic interference when operating. This will vary with the specific equipment and proximity to the fan. You can cut the heat shrink tubing off to eliminate some of the bulk surrounding the ferrite. Arrange the wires so that two are on the side and one is on the opposite side. This will allow it to lay flatter.
3. My product has a 12-volt lighter plug included. Can I cut it off and direct wire it?
Yes. Please ensure that the smooth cord wire (with writing) is attached to the negative (ground) wire and that the ribbed cord wire is connected to the positive (red) wire.
